Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - Apr/May 2019 (Issue 70)
YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME The finalists for Britain’s Best Bridesmaid 2019 have been revealed, with Somerset’s Gabrielle George in the running. After examining nearly 500 entries, the judges at hen and stag company Red7 have narrowed it down to 14 elite bridesmaids, who have braved illness, heartbreak and disaster to make the shortlist. Sarah Chapman of Red7 commented: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible stories sent in by grateful brides, nominating their besties. We’ve been organising hen dos for more than 21 years and have witnessed the energy and dedication of women up and down the country to put on the best event for their squads.” Gabrielle was nominated by her sister, Lula. “I fell over on my hen do and broke my leg in four places,” says Lula. “Gabrielle decided to pull it straight even though she has no first aid training! The surgeon said if she hadn’t done that, I would’ve lost my leg.” To find out more, visit redsevenleisure.co.uk SWEET TREATS Here Today, Scone Tomorrow, the Bristol- based company that serves fresh scones from a beautifully converted Citroen HY van, recently announced some new menu choices. “We’re adding a cream-tea cake to our big-day offering,” says owner Philippa Till. “It’s a yummy tower of fruit or plain scones, which can be topped with a giant scone for cutting. Available in both vegan and gluten-free options, it’s a great alternative to a traditional cake and ideal for couples who want to make it part of their meal.” For parties of up to 50, bespoke afternoon teas are available. Highlights include signature handmade scones and colour-themed mini Battenberg cakes.
