CRYSTAL CLEAR The favours were selected for each individual guest. The couple handmade small boxes each of which contained a crystal. “This was something I was always sceptical about when I met Lily, but she made me fall in love with them and their meaning,” Elsie says. Each loved one was gifted a crystal deemed fit for them. This might be to help them with something they were struggling with, for safety to travel or help with social obstacles for example. “They brought out a lot of emotions in our guests,” Elsie remembers. The duo decided not to have a table plan. With an intimate guest list of 36, they chose to allow their nearest and dearest to sit wherever they wished. The tables were laid out in a horseshoe formation with the newlyweds at the head. The tables featured wellington boot centrepieces filled with baby’s breath. Around the bottom were the crystals the couple had collected over the years. The bouquets and buttonholes meanwhile were sourced locally from Nicky’s Flowers in Taunton. “This is the place I’ve always bought Lily’s Flowers, so it only seemed fitting,” Elsie shares. Once a month Lily receives a special bouquet from Elsie, so their wedding day was no different. These were delivered to Lily’s grannie’s grave shortly after the wedding day. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the pair opted for a mouth-watering brownie stack. It was decorated with fresh fruit, chocolate balls and icing. Elsie’s favourites were the raspberry and white chocolate brownies, and Lily’s were the Kinder brownies. For the cake topper they used a live printed photo of their first kiss on the day, along with an image from the previous day when they signed the official paperwork to legally become wife and wife. Some cool and quirky features included a large crisp wall holding the couple’s favourites for guests to snack on, and pork scratchings solely for the bride! They also had some homemade dog biscuits available, made by their cake maker, for guests to take home to their four-legged friends. These small goodie bags were labelled: ‘From our pups to yours.’ SPOILT FOR CHOICE When they made their initial enquiries with the venue, the couple were given a wealth of different packages and 36
