LOOKING THE PART Pia wore a lace Lillian West gown (66246) in ivory. “When I purchased it, it was more of a flare than a fit. I absolutely loved it, but decided to have it altered to be more fitted,” she explains. The bride never imagined herself wearing a veil; and when she had her hair trial, she decided on an elaborate up do, so understandably she didn’t want to add anything else. As the dress was backless though, she accessorised with a beautiful gold back necklace. In keeping with the subtle gold theme too, she also wore small gold leaf huggie earrings and gold chunky square heels. Joe was dressed in a stone three piece suit hired from Astaires in Taunton. Lightweight, it was perfect for a June wedding. To make him stand out from the rest of his party, looking that extra bit “groomy” as Pia puts it, he wore an ivory tie and floral pocket boutonnière to complement the bride and her flowers. The groomsmen meanwhile wore taupe ties with their matching suits, plus tan and gold belts and tan shoes offering a great contrast to the stone colour of their suits. “I knew I didn’t want matching bridesmaids dresses,” Pia shares. “So, I chose the infinity multiway bridesmaid dress in six different colours, allowing each maid to choose the style they wished to wear.” The ladies all had their hair and make-up done to match, with side flower pins and gold bracelets given to them as a gift from the bride. “Enjoy the process.” CELEBRATE IN STYLE Sax player Dave Colebourn entertained guests during the day. “He was just incredible! We highly recommend him. He brings good vibes only, so if you love a sax player, look no further!” Pia says. There were also games laid out for the guests to entertain themselves with and the newlyweds took part in the Mr & Mrs shoe game! As huge Bob Marley fans, the couple set up a playlist for the dinner service. Friends and family loved it, heartily singing along to Three Little Birds, filling the barn with song. “It was a heartwarming moment and gave us both goosebumps,” the bride remembers. Kieran Clarke Entertainment took up the mantle into the evening. “His announcements and choice of music brought so much energy,” Pia remembers. “We had drum and bass during the last hour, which is our favourite music, and he was amazing.” Pia surprised her mum with a mother/daughter dance to her wedding song, Halo by Beyonce. “I always said as a little girl she’d walk me down the aisle, but my step dad Jon became my dad later in life, so I wanted to honour my mum by asking her to be my maid-of-honour instead and having that moment with her was the best,” Pia explains. “We’d never felt so excited in our lives!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “For both of us, the ceremony was the stand-out moment but from two different perspectives,” Pia says. When Pia arrived at the ceremony venue, the heavens opened, but as they were announced as husband and wife and it was time to leave, the sun broke through and they walked out into the sunshine. “It felt magical,” the bride remembers.
