Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - June/July 2024 (Issue 101)

We had dried rose petals as confetti, and each table had a beautiful centrepiece featuring roses, other flowers and gorgeous greenery. After walking back from the Registry Office, we made our way to the Hotel gardens and enjoyed prosecco on the lawn followed by photographs under the trees with Taunton Museum as our backdrop. As guests made their way to the elegant and stylish roof terrace in The Penthouse at the top of the Hotel, which boasts panoramic views of Taunton and the surrounding Blackdown and Quantock Hills, Phil and I took some time to ourselves in The Garden Room with a glass of prosecco and our photographer. On each table there was a photograph of each guest with their name and relationship to us. We also tried to make sure most of our guests had met each other before the wedding so there were no awkward moments. We wanted an intimate, informal wedding, so our guests were 20 of our closest family and friends. What made the day so special was the easy flow of events, the laid-back atmosphere and the laughter. There were no formal speeches, no cutting a cake, no first dance... Our guests said it was the best wedding they’d been to, which was lovely to hear. 37 REAL WEDDINGS
