Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - December 2022/January 2023 (Issue 98)

“I felt a little overwhelmed but so happy. It was amazing to marry my best friend. I loved Alfie’s speech, his words were so touching, he did an amazing job!” — Hannah LOOKING THE PART Alfie’s grandma, Karen made Hannah’s dress. “It was beautiful and so comfortable, I felt like a princess,” Hannah says. “The detail on the dress was created using a necklace that belonged to Alfie’s great nan – it was an honour to have a family heirloom included and I wore my nan’s veil that she had on her wedding day 51 years ago. I finished my look with a Swarovski necklace that my mum bought for me that coordinated perfectly with my dress. I also wore a pair of stylish kitten heels and changed to flat shoes during the evening so that I could dance easier!” Alfie and the groomsmen all wore identical navy suits teamed with blush ties made from the same material as the bridesmaids’ dresses which were long blush gowns with floral detail on the waist. “Our flowergirl had a cute dress with a white top and a blush skirt decorated with flowers,” Hannah says. “All of these dresses were also made by Alfie’s grandma with some help from his sister which added a personal touch.” TIME TO CELEBRATE Hannah and Alfie hired a DJ, a photo booth and a chocolate fountain to entertain their guests. “Our DJ was brilliant, he kept the party going all evening,” the couple tells us. “Our guests loved the photo booth and we loved looking back at the pictures and messages written in our guest book. The chocolate fountain provided a selection of our favourite sweets including giant foamy bananas that Alfie loved as a child - he remembered taking a tub of them home from his mum’s wedding and he got to take some home from his own wedding, too!” 35 REAL WEDDINGS
