Q&A Beauty Our experts reveal all WINTER WEDDINGS How can I look after my skin and hair in the run-up to my winter wedding? Meet the expert: Rosie Scott is a hair and make-up artist based in Berkshire specialising in weddings, photo shoots, fashion editorial, television, film and music videos. Rosie says: Visibly healthy skin and hair is essential for bridal beauty and during the winter months, it’s vital to stick to a hair and skincare regime. Having regular professional facial treatments to prep, soften and energise your skin is a must - your beautician can recommend a bespoke skincare routine. Apply a richer moisturiser during the colder months when your skin tends to be dryer and needs extra nutrients to maintain a healthy glow. Exfoliate regularly and gently, and try an oil-based scrub that’s less harsh and more gentle and hydrating. Change your cleanser to a soapfree one with a natural pH that will help to prevent your skin from drying out and invest in an oil-based cleanser that rinses off with cold water. Luscious lips can be achieved by using a lip scrub to remove dry and flaky skin. Lip balms are a great way of keeping them moisturised. Your hands need love too so nourish them with an intensive moisturiser applied after every wash. Healthy skin and hair can be achieved from within by taking vitamin C supplements which are a vital component for hair health. Omega 3 fatty acids will help it grow faster and shine, and regular trims at your salon will keep your locks looking healthy, even if you’re trying to grow your hair for your big day. Hair conditioning treatments in a salon or at home will give your strands an extra moisture boost. Try to wash it once or twice a week because shampooing too often can strip it of natural oils. If you have oily hair and need to wash it more often, use a dry shampoo in between washes to keep it feeling fresh. Finally, drink plenty of water because hydration is the key to healthy skin and hair all year round. Image of Rosie Scott's work courtesy of www.daleweeksphotography.co.uk 86
