Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - April/May 2021 (Issue 88)
I wore an electric blue dress because I wanted to keep my look simple and relaxed. Due to the restrictions in place at the ti me we wanted to get married, we knew that we couldn’t have the larger wedding that we originally planned after becoming engaged. Steve’s family live in Chicago meaning they couldn’t travel over so we live-str eamed our ceremony via Zoom so that they could b e part of it which felt very special. We had originally booked our wedding for November but suspected there might be another lockdown by then so we moved the date forward and managed to get married before the restrictions were tightened again. We booked the Dexter Room at the Oxford Register Office which was allowing up to eight guests at the time meaning that we could have our son, my parents and a photographer in the room with us. Suella and Steve enjoyed an intimate family affair at Oxford Register Office for their October wedding with overseas guests watching via Zoom Images courtesy of Vicky Lewis Photography TRADITION A twist on S uella and Steve met in a local pub and hit it off immediately. “Steve was attending a wedding in Mexico two months after we met and he invited me to go with him,” Suella tells us. “ We grew close during that trip and bonded over our mutual love of chillies and sunny beaches! We both realised there was something very special between us and, by the end of our first year together, we had moved in together.” The couple became engaged during an intimate proposal at home. “Steve arrived home one morning from a business trip to Chicago and proposed at lunchtime, in the kitchen with our son present. It was a wonderful surprise!” Here, Suella tells us all about their small, city wedding. MICRO WEDDINGS 45
