Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - February /March 2021 (Issue 87)
Q&A Beauty Our experts answer your questions Meet the expert: Paige Mary is a qualified make-up artist based in Berkshire specialising in natural make-up, enhancing clients’ features creating a flawless, fresh glow. She is also a talented wedding photographer. Paige Mary says: When getting married during any season, there are a few insider tips that I must let you know about! When it comes to achieving an Insta-worthy base, apply powder frequently, using a brush for application to sweep away any unwanted shine and oil. This is especially important on a hot summer’s day when it’s easy for skin to look shiny. For the perfect pout, it’s important to apply a lip liner as well as a lipstick which will help create fuller lips and keep your chosen products in place. Keep your make-up items to hand in a cute clutch bag for touch-ups. If you’re wondering where or how you’ll apply them with everything else going on, I offer a bespoke service that allows me to do this for brides. I also offer a wedding photography service (more about that on page 53), so I can happily check make-up between photos. To look, and feel, flawless for the entire day is so important because your wedding memories and photos last forever. PICTURE-PERFECT We’re getting married this summer and I would love some ideas for my big-day make-up and skincare regime. Can you help? She’s a qualified beautician and nail technician offering a variety of skincare and make-up services. Nicolette says: Taking good care of your skin is especially important in the run-up to the summer months because it has had plenty to endure during winter. I recommend that my brides book in for a skincare consultation at least four to six months ahead of their wedding day when I can look at their skin type and its specific needs and we have plenty of time to get the care routine established. We all know that we need to cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturise and protect our skin daily, but sometimes that’s not enough and your skin may need supplement care. You can over-exfoliate or add skin oils which aren’t good for oily skin so a personalised consultation is key. Natural light and airy make-up for summer weddings is best, however, you can go bolder if that’s your usual style. If you want to create a sun-kissed look, but not have the risks associated with sunbathing, simply add a self-tanning cream to your daily routine, but don’t forget to tell your make-up artist so that they can adjust your foundation accordingly to create that flawless finish. A bohemian bridal look with a flawless matte base, blush cheeks and minimal eye make-up complete with eye-catching lip colour is a good choice. Sweep your hair into an up do that doesn’t look too finished to complete your look. Or, use earthy shades suited to your skin tone and to make your eyes pop, but keeping the look as muted as possible, apply a highlighter, blusher and natural lip gloss for a dewy sun-kissed feel. Don’t forget about the wonders of contouring defining a flawlessly matte base finished with a touch of sparkly lip gloss. 88
