Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - February /March 2021 (Issue 87)

58 LOVE CONQUERS ALL Oxfordshire-based wedding and event Potters Instinct Photography is owned and run by Kevin Potter whose documentary style produces special signature photographs. He tells us, “to capture core memories for couples is what made me decide to become a wedding photographer 10 years ago, and it’s the anticipation, inquisitiveness and excitement that still gets me fired up each time that I shoot a wedding.” He continues, “I have such a passion for wedding photography and the reasons are plentiful. The technical knowledge that you have to learn and implement is vast, and the emotional roller coaster that you experience throughout the wedding day that you’re photographing is highly addictive. But, if I had to choose only one thing that I have been drawn to throughout my 10-year career, it’s the euphoria in making an extra-special core memory for my couples.” Kevin tells us about two love stories he documented during 2020, a year where the wedding industry was disrupted and couples left despondent at having to change their plans. “I met a bride-to-be called Melissa. She and her husband Jamie were so determined to get married in 2020 and it became my only full wedding of the year. My memory of it was when her mum gave Melissa the veil that she had worn on her wedding day 30 years previously, almost to the date. Her mum lovingly offered her daughter some heartfelt advice, and it was like they were the only two people in the room. I was so engrossed through the tiny viewfinder on my camera, completely focused on the emotion that was radiating from this tender mother-and-daughter moment, that I couldn’t help but cry myself. It became one of the most treasured photos for Melissa from her entire wedding day.” Another fond memory of Kevin’s from 2020 was with a couple called Fearn and Chris. “They decided to have an intimate micro wedding in the centre of Oxford and as we made our way through the narrow streets taking photographs as we walked, I was snapping some amazing images,” Kevin says. “As we entered the Radcliffe Camera arena, we were met by a gang of students who were celebrating graduation and those closest to us started clapping, cheering and whistling! This soon escalated and it was like being in a stadium which made my couple feel very special. It became the talking point at their reception dinner.” 07725 335 766 | https://pottersinstinctphotography.co.uk www.instagram.com/pottersinstinctphotography Graham Lee is the expert eye behind Buckinghamshire-based, multi-award-winning Yellow Door Wedding Photography offering documentary-style images and couple portraits in a natural, unobtrusive and relaxed way.
