Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 82)

enjoy; while a piper, playing bagpipes, welcomed guests to the ceremony and when Shelley walked down the aisle and to announce the couple at the wedding breakfast. “It was different for our English friends and family to have a piper,” shares Shelley. “It’s not something they hear very often and for my family it was a wonderful, heart-warming feeling hearing the piper play, it was like being back home.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and more and the rain in its own way made it even more special. We feel very lucky to have found each other and to have our two most precious boys, Oscar and Isaac. “We were both so emotional before we said I do, as soon as I put on my dress and saw my dad I could not stop crying, but all the nerves went away as soon as we saw one another.” What stood out to Luke: “Seeing Shelley walking down the aisle, the food and the rain as this made our day even more memorable and special as everyone was all together and not spread out through the day.” Shelley adds: “Seeing my dad for the first time in my wedding dress, and the love and emotions I felt when I saw Luke standing at the altar. Also having all our family together for us was priceless. Having Oscar and Isaac being part of our special day and seeing them both in their Black Watch Kilts. “The rain always brightens my day now since our wedding day, where as before I hated it. But a little rain never hurt anyone and if anything this was the extra special part of our day, which made it unique and more perfect in every way. The rain made me feel back at home – you can take the girl out of Scotland but you can’t take Scotland out of the girl!” Luke’s speech was a stand- out moment as it came from the heart and spoke beautifully about his special bond with his nan, his appreciation for Shelley’s family, especially his in laws and his love for his new wife (which he nearly forgot to speak about, but was prompted by one of the bridesmaids). “Absolute Taste’s food was out of this world, and to this day is still what our guests can talk about; we went for the Tythe Barn Feast with a trio of delicious desserts. While our photographers Kate and Jon Gray’s unique style and approach was exactly what we were looking for and they both made sure that the photographs took place without interrupting the flow of the day. Kate and Jon put us at ease and captured so many magical moments from the day. Nothing was too much trouble and braving the rain to capture magical moments between Luke and myself. ”Having all our friends and family together to celebrate with us and Scotland will be something we treasure forever.” 40
