More and more couples are looking for suppliers that allow them to plan a more environmentally friendly and sustainable wedding. From going plastic free to sourcing locally and ethically produced floristry, food and drink, this trend can only continue to grow. We will see increased use of homegrown and wild flowers used to adorn cakes. Dried flowers are a beautiful alternative that can be entirely bespoke to the couple. The increasing trend for using whole fruits, and other edible items such as nuts and will continue. Think whole lemons, peaches and cherries dressing cakes and incorporated into floristry for summer weddings, or apples and figs in autumn. Local produce also gives couples a chance to update the look of the ever-popular semi naked cake, personalising the decoration with homegrown and favourite edible items, which reflect the flavours of the tiers. Sustainable and organic Big, bright and vibrant colours will continue to feature in weddings in 2020, across everything from cakes to stationery, floral arrangements and tablescapes. Couples can have lots of fun using rainbow and clashing palettes to create a wedding that is as individual as they are. The Pantone Colour of the Year 2020 is anticipated to be another strong, bold hue. ‘Living Coralʼ, the Pantone Colour of the Year in 2019, influenced many couples, who chose beautiful blooms in various coral tones to adorn their cakes. These were created using both fresh and handmade sugar flower arrangements.
