Your Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 80)

to home it was. With all this in mind it was the obvious choice for us.” GETTING READY Lizzie wore an ivory lace A-line dress, a veil and a jacket with sleeves made in the same lace. The bridesmaids wore blush pink dresses from Debenhams. All groomsmen wore navy tails, and to stand out, the groom had an ivory tie and buttonhole, while the other groomsmen had pink to match the bridesmaids. The couple styled the venue to reflect the countryside setting. “We chose logs as centrepieces for our tables, with jam jars of flowers and candles from our florists,” says Lizzie. “I chose soft pink roses and baby breath, which also featured in my bridesmaids’ bouquets. We hired chair covers with pink bows, an aisle runner, postbox, large love letters and white sparkly dancefloor for the evening. For our ceremony the room was set up beautifully. We had the chairs with the covers either side of the aisle, the aisle runner with candles and rose petals scattered all the way down it. On the registrar table we had a long and low flower arrangement which was was placed on our top table. We also ordered some heart log style favours with our names and wedding date on, which were scattered over the tables. Finally, we framed photos of the places we have been to as a couple and these places became our table names.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “For me the part that stood out the most was seeing Lizzie walking down the aisle,” says Tim. Looking back, the couple both agree that the most important thing was to take time to come away from everything and have moments to yourself. To help that along, the couple hired a toastmaster for the day which kept things flowing, and he also provided music throughout the ceremony and during the wedding breakfast. In the evening they had a DJ and sparky dancefloor, which was a hit with the guests. “My favourite part of the day, aside from saying I do, was hearing Tim’s funny but lovely speech,” says Lizzy. “It had me in tears. We both felt overjoyed to have all our friends and family watching us make our vows and celebrate with us afterwards. You have to try to take it all in. It really does go so quickly!” REAL WEDDINGS 55 
