Your Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 80)

Our local experts solve your wedding woes GETTING THE LOOK I’ve always done my own make-up, but I’m thinking of getting a professional for the big day. Can you take me through what to expect? Rosie says: By hiring a professional hair and make-up artist you can relax and get ready to enjoy your big day, looking your absolute best. Your artist must ensure that your look enhances and complements your personal style, wedding dress, flowers, colours and overall theme. It’s very important to find an artist who will share your vision and turn it into a reality. Rapport is vital. Once you have chosen your dress and wedding theme and found the right artist, you will need to arrange a hair and make- up trial, which usually happens 6-12 months before the wedding. Think about your preferred hair and make-up styles and share these ideas using a moodboard. Your trial is incredibly important as your artist will create the style as if it is your wedding day, discussing the options, including accessories, and advising on skincare and hair treatments. To achieve red carpet bridal hair your stylist may recommend temporary hair extensions to create the illusion of volume and length. Skincare and pre-wedding prep is essential. Drink lots of water for a clear complexion and have a few facials on the run up to the wedding. If your skin is in great condition your make-up will look even better. Other top tips include maintaining essential beauty staples such as regular hair trims, eyebrow grooming and nail treatments. Trial all of these a few months before the wedding. Your artist will be at hand in the run up to the wedding for any last-minute questions and will provide a timetable for you and your bridal party to ensure a smooth running and stress free wedding morning. Get lots of sleep as you need to be in tip-top health to look and feel like an A-lister. Rachel says: Mohair slim cut suits are a big hit at the moment. 2020 will see the new subtle check materials and a different shade of brown. All our mohair suits are available in traditional morning coats (tails) and formal lounge jackets, and with four shades of blue and four shades of grey, there are a variety of colour schemes to choose from. Tweeds are a strong option for the rustic and on-trend wedding and the dinner suit black tie theme is also very popular. If you are looking for something different there should be a very broad choice. For instance, in our shop, most of our suits are available from age two to 62” chest and all can be hired or purchased. An on-site tailor can help can ensure the perfect fit, and wherever you decide to buy or hire from, look for somewhere with a good reputation for customer service.
