Anne says: It’s great that you’re looking for a dramatic look for your big day. Go for it! Depending on what your hair is like now, you could either go for a dramatic, sharp bob or fringe, but you also want to make sure you don’t make any rash decisions in the moment that you’re not happy with later. Why not try experimenting with colour instead? You can create a dramatic look that isn’t as permanent as a cut but will still get heads turning. Corals and pinks are very in this year, but so are blues and greens if you want something very different. If you have short hair and have always fancied Rapunzelesque lengths, then extensions can add instant length or even colour. Or you could try a completely different style – does your dress have a vintage vibe? Embrace this and go for a rockabilly look, finger waves, a beehive… not something you wear every day! Just with a bridal hairstyle, it is important to bear in mind the style of your dress. If you’re going for something Grecian, a half-up or half-down do that looks more relaxed is best. Likewise, a high neck or long-sleeved dress will look stunning with simple hair up that shows off any intricate detailing. Zoe says: Begin with a moisturiser that has a high skin protection factor (SPF), so that from the very start of your skin preparation, you’re ensuring you are protected from the sun. Then I would use a mattifying primer. This will help control any areas that could be prone to shininess. I recommend The POREfessional Face Primer by Benefit Cosmetics, which is amazing for this. Ensure that any areas that are more likely to become shiny – such as the forehead, nose, chin and sometimes cheeks – are set with a good powder after the foundation. If you then finish things off with a good setting spray, this should help keep the shininess at bay. For an added reassurance why not ask one of your bridesmaids to have a pack of make-up blotting paper handy? Then you should be good to go. Zoe Heathers Make-up artist 102
