Your Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wedding - Apr/May 2019 (Issue 76)
JEWELLERY 75 Rosalyn’s Emporium is a bespoke jewellery business based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, giving couples the chance to make their own wedding rings during a private workshop experience. The company also offers silver jewellery classes, bespoke jewellery made to order, recycling and remodelling existing jewellery and a repair and scrap service. THE BLING RING Expert advice on jewellery and accessories Making your own wedding rings must be one of the best ways to create a lasting memory together. You can work in gold, platinum, palladium or silver, add engraving, stone setting and even plating to professionally finish your wedding rings. Your bridal party can also share the experience because you could make them some jewellery or silver gifts during the same workshop. There are three types of engraving available: hand, machine and laser. Engraving could be as simple as having initials and the wedding date engraved inside the rings to simple lines or elaborate patterns on the outside – and even each other’s fingerprints. Coloured stones offer endless choices. Hard- wearing stones, such as sapphire and topaz, come in different colours, shapes and sizes so can give you a bigger and more adventurous look with a more affordable price tag. If a super-shiny polished finish isn’t for you, then we can explore satin, hammered textures and casting finishes. You can add texture in just one area or really go for it. More and more couples are being given family heirlooms or have their own precious jewellery that they want to melt, reform and make into their new wedding rings or wedding jewellery. Stones such as diamonds can be removed from an existing piece and used again. New gold and stones can be added if you don’t have enough for what you want, so the options are endless.
