FLOWERS 69 FLOWE R POWER Local experts offer seasonal advice on the best big-day bouquets and floral displays S pring Spring is my favourite season for flowers because of all the intricate shapes and textures. In particular, I love working with muscari, ranunculus and galanthus; their heads all have such different personalities and are great to include in buttonholes. But I also love the colours from flowers like tulips and iris, which we tend to use in larger scale work. The scent from spring flowers is amazing, especially hyacinth and tuberose, both which are stunning in bridal bouquets. I actually chose to get married in spring just so I could include these delicate flowers in my own wedding bouquet. – Emma Clarke, Signature Flowers Go for tulips, ranunculus, hellebores and viburnum opulus – or for a big impact, glorious arching branches of English blossom at floor level. For those on a limited budget, maximum impact can be achieved by interspersing or grouping organic pots of flowering bulbs and plants. Not all spring flowers are happiest when cut, and there is nothing more life-affirming than seeing growing pots of primroses, bellis and muscari peeking out from a backdrop of foliage. – Sandra Green, Lark Rise Flowers Spring weddings are all about fresh, fragrant florals in light, bright colours. There are some real gems available at this time of year. Seasonal spring flowers include tulips, anemones, ranunculus, daffodils, roses, muscari, wonderfully fragranced hyacinths and cherry blossom. – Lucy Brooker, Seventh Heaven larkriseflowers.com larkriseflowers.com; squibphotography.c o.uk floribundi.co.uk thejoyofplants.co.uk floribundi.co.uk signature-flowers.co.uk
