Q&A Beauty Our local experts solve your wedding woes CONTACT THE EXPERTS Maddy Orlando, boutique owner, bicesterbridal.com Kaycie Pearson, hair stylist, thehairsecret.co.uk Kirsty Rodziewicz, beauty therapist, perfectlyposhhairdesign.co.uk Elemental magic I’m worried about wind and rain ruining my hair. What styles or products do you think would help? Kaycie says: First, you need to make sure that your hair stylist fully preps your hair. This will give your style structural integrity and support to last all day. If the forecast is for windy or wet weather, a classic or even a messy styled up do will help to avoid any windswept photographs on your big day – and make sure someone in your bridal party keeps an umbrella to hand. It’s also handy to keep a small hairspray nearby to make your hair less fly away. But my best advice would be to keep your hair as dry as possible and to not let the weather ruin your magical day. Kaycie Pearson Hair stylist LOOKING FOR THE ONE I can’t wait to get married and want to get it wrapped up in the next 12 months. On average, how many bridal fittings should I attend and when should I start? Maddy says: Starting the search for your wedding dress is probably one of the most exciting parts of planning a wedding, and most girls can’t wait to round up the bride tribe and get stuck in! Your wedding dress will dictate other aspects of the styling for your big day, such as theme, flowers and hairstyles, so if you are at the 12-month mark or less, it’s definitely time to make a start. Most wedding boutiques will quote a delivery time of four to six months for your wedding dress to be made and arrive in store. You will then need to allow plenty of time for any alterations and adjustments. Many boutiques will also offer a ready-to-wear collection if you are short on time. A lot of girls find their perfect dress in the first shop they visit. However, if you don’t find anything that you love immediately, you will need to factor in time to visit other boutiques. We recommend no more than three or four, as visiting other stores just to make sure can be time-consuming, confusing and a little bit stressful. When you do find the dress that makes your heart beat faster, then just say “Yes!” Maddy Orlando Boutique owner NEW LIFE I find that my skin gets very dry and dull-looking over winter. What can I do to make myself as fresh-faced as possible for my spring wedding? Kirsty says: Regular facials will inject your skin with radiance and moisture again; this is important all year but especially during winter – and even more so in the run up to your wedding. I would suggest visiting your beauty therapist every two or three weeks in the two months before your big day. This gives your skin a chance to react to the treatments and transform in time. It is also important to maintain a steady skincare routine at home. Your beauty therapist will be able to advise you on this in relation to your own skin type, but in my experience, Aveda products work best because they are predominantly natural ingredients.
