Laura and Adrian enjoyed a great first date which sparked the beginning of their romance. “Adrian was standing waiting outside the bar that we arranged to meet in for 20 minutes while I was sitting inside the bar, also waiting!” Laura tells us. “Both of us assumed that we had been stood up! We both turned around, caught each other’s eye through the window and that was it.” The engagement came as a surprise. “We were in Ireland visiting my family when Adrian proposed on Banna Beach in Co. Kerry in August 2022 where my beloved grandparents had met 70 years earlier,” Laura says. “Although Adrian never met them, he had heard what a long and happy marriage they shared and couldn’t think of a better place to ask me to marry him.” SETTING THE SCENE The couple chose Combe Manor as their big-day venue situated close to where Adrian had grown up. “He had spent many an afternoon with his dad cycling past Combe Manor,” Laura says. “The surroundings looked so beautiful and we loved that we could make the day entirely our own by adding many personal little touches.” Laura and Adrian’s ceremony was heartfelt and reflected them as a couple. “As our guests started to arrive, Adrian decided to throw a mini prosecco reception before our ceremony,” Laura tells us. “Guests were given a glass of fizz as they arrived and the celebrations began. When the ceremony started, everyone put their glasses away except for Adrian’s nan who continued to drink hers throughout our ceremony which made us smile!” REAL WEDDINGS 41
