Laura and Sam attended the same school and met in sixth form. “We hit it off straight away with similar tastes in music and other hobbies,” Laura tells us. “Sam proposed to me in Central Park, New York on the 25th of May 2022. I had a feeling that it was coming but I kept telling myself I was imagining it as I didn’t want to ruin the surprise. It was one of the best days (and trips) of our lives – and my first time visiting the USA.” SETTING THE SCENE Laura saw a photograph in a wedding magazine of the outdoor space under the canopy at Wasing and loved the look of it. “We’d only viewed one other venue, but after a tour of Wasing, we fell in love with it – nothing could compare!” she says. The wedding and events manager at Wasing, Lucrecia went above and beyond to ensure that Laura and Sam’s special day ran smoothly. “Every one of our guests commented on how seamless the day was,” Laura says. “Trust that everything will fall into place – as long as you have a venue and those you care about attending, everything else will work out.” Their rustic-inspired theme was decorated with green and white touches. “We kept our centrepieces simple to save money,” Laura explains. “We hired log slabs from our florist and the bridesmaids’ bouquets were displayed in vases on some of the tables. For the others, we re-purposed some of the chair-end arrangements which looked stunning.” For their flowers, Laura and Sam wanted mostly greens and whites with a hint of colour. “I adored the sprinkling of lilac that “ I couldn’t stop smiling on our wedding day - the sun was shining and I was marrying my favourite person!” - Laura REAL WEDDINGS 45
