Amy and Luke met at the University of Reading in 2015 during their first year. “Luke proposed to me on the 26th of August 2023,” Amy tells us. “He ordered cake pops from Pop Bakery that spelt out the words ‘Amy will you marry me?’ I came downstairs to make a cup of tea in the morning and when I opened the fridge to get the milk, there they were! The proposal wasn’t a surprise, but how he did it was.” SETTING THE SCENE The couple knew they wanted a barn wedding having been to a few as guests. “We loved The Post because it’s a top quality venue and we adored the tall glass windows flooding the space with plenty of natural daylight,” they tell us. “Having the accommodation close by at Donnington Valley hotel was another advantage.” On the morning of their wedding, Amy and Luke both felt a mix of excitement with some nerves. “We were so happy when we got to see each other at the end of the aisle and both shed a tear,” Amy says. Luke adds, “Seeing Amy walking down the aisle was a moment I’ll never forget.” Amy and Luke chose a green theme for their big day with a nod to Star Wars because they are both fans. “Our tables were named after the planets from Star Wars. Our table was called Naboo after the planet where Anakin and Padmé get married in the film,” Amy tells us. “For our favours, I made two bookmarks with everyone’s names on them which acted as place names, and we also gifted our guests homemade limoncello shots with ‘Drink me’ labels on them as a nod to Alice in Wonderland – another favourite of ours!” When it came to their flowers, Amy and Luke wanted the 39 REAL WEDDINGS
