When it comes to picking sustainable bridal gowns, she offers these top tips: • “Consider investing in a secondhand bridal gown - there are plenty of different places you can find people reselling theirs in shops or online and some have never been worn. If you find a great one but it doesn’t fit, you can easily have it altered and adapted to reflect your style.” • “If you don’t want to keep your gown after the wedding day, you can always sell it to help future brides. Alternatively, you can also send it off to be made into a christening gown.” • “If you do want to keep your dress, think about handing it down through the family and turning it into a heirloom.” • “If you’re looking at getting your bridal gown fully bespoke, there is now an intensive range of eco-friendly bridal fabrics available.” • “Think about the reusability of the gown. Most people assume they can only wear their bridal gown for one day, however, you can always get your dress altered after the day to wear on a special occasion. There are plenty of ways to do this, for example, you can get it dyed or the length or shape can be altered and detailing can be removed – why not ask to keep the offcuts to make a unique memory piece?” • “Any leftover fabric from the creation of your bridal gown can always be turned into accessories for the bridal party as well as hair accessories for yourself.” Eloise adds, “When it comes to choosing sustainable bridesmaid dresses, these top tips will help: • Start with a colour palette and let your bridal party choose a dress that they feel comfortable in and will happily wear again - having a fabric swatch in the colour you’re after is a bonus so you know they’ll get as close to the same colour as possible.” • “Infinity dresses and jumpsuits are popular at the moment and are a great way to make sure that the members of the bridal party are wearing the same colour yet feel comfortable in a style that reflects their personalities.
