Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - June/July 2024 (Issue 107)

Our place names doubled up as favours which many of our guests took home with them. They were large oyster shells which Rob’s parents spent their weekend combing beaches for! We cleaned them, painted them pearlescent inside and then added the names to them. Our centrepieces reflected the lilac and blue shades of our theme, mixed with peach shades. We asked for them to be low down with no vase visible so our guests could all see one another and chat easily with no obstruction. We also had small shells scattered around each table. Our chosen reception venue, Reading Blue Coat School, was where we met and our groomsmen and bridesmaids all attended that school too so it meant a lot to us that we could get married there. The building where we held our reception was the stylish Buttery room. It was amazing having our loved ones alongside us to celebrate our special day and go back to the school where we met. We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to do that. We chose table names after locations that meant something special to us. They told the story of our lives and included Cascais where we became engaged, and Sonning. Rob’s dad carved out wooden blocks with the names in, and I painted them to fit in with our colour scheme. The grounds at the venue looked stunning. Our table plan was a silver mirror decorated with small oyster shells around the top half. The place names included It’s About Shucking Time and The Oyster Shucker. Our chosen flowers were lilac, blue and peach varieties. My beautiful bridal bouquet featured long lilac silk ribbons which were the same colour as the bridesmaids’ dresses. Our bridesmaids carried posies of blue hydrangeas which looked fantastic! 41 REAL WEDDINGS
