Chalkney Water Meadows is hidden among ancient woodland, next to a picturesque river and a tree-lined lake in the Colne Valley. This stunning location makes a wonderful spot for an outdoor celebration. Three Kata tipis pitched beside the lake create an exciting backdrop – a truly special shelter in the natural landscape. Inside, there are friends, family and good times. Wooden flooring, dining tables, a dancefloor and sound system are all in place, and couples can let their imaginations run wild when decorating. Let’s celebrate! Humanist ceremonies take place on the Willow Tree Pontoon, before parties make use of the lawn and tipis for the reception. Located close to Chappel Viaduct in rural countryside, the East Anglian Railway Museum is immersed in history and atmosphere and offers a memorable setting for weddings. The venue captures snapshots of a bygone era, with the Goods Shed, Victorian platform and of course the engines all providing fantastic photo opportunities. Both full-sized and miniature trains are also available to hire. Let’s celebrate! Although legal ceremonies don’t take place here, many couples choose to hold a blessing in the Goods Shed (up to 200 guests) as well as the wedding breakfast and party. For smaller celebrations, the Corporate Room (50 guests) is also available. The Goods Shed is a blank canvas for couples to personalise. Vintage exhibits can remain in place, and a static vintage carriage with seating is included. For those wishing to go outdoors, separate parts of the site can be hired for a marquee or tipi for a festival feel.
