An Essex Wedding - November/December 2020 (Issue 95)

ANYONE FOR TEA? Very Vintage Tea Party, a mobile afternoon tea service complete with vintage styling, has not only launched a new socially distanced delivery service, but owner Anna-Maria has also contributed to a book about how small businesses across the globe have faced the pandemic. “What started out as a year full of bookings and celebrations turned out to be quite the opposite,” Anna- Maria says of 2020. “We had to pivot the business and keep servicing our customers even though we were not able to offer business as usual. We boxed up our afternoon tea and set up a delivery service. This spread so much joy and happiness, especially during the harshest weeks of lockdown.” Anna-Maria also turned her hand to a new skill. “During this time, we had an amazing opportunity to write for a book,” she says. “Ready to Rise, the brainchild of Helen Vandenburgh, was put together in a matter of weeks. It’s a collaboration of insights from 50 small business owners across the globe about how they reacted and coped in their businesses throughout COVID-19.” The book became an Amazon bestseller, with all proceeds going to the NHS and the World Health Organisation.
