A home from home The award-winning Pig & Whistle Restaurant in the Chelmsford countryside has recently received its ceremony licence. “We took over the 16 th -century public house seven years ago and transformed it into an established à la carte restaurant,” says owner Justin Mullender. “We’re always a top choice for a first date, romantic meals or to celebrate anniversaries; in 2019 we were recognised as one of the top 50 most romantic UK restaurants – the only one in Essex!” As a regular choice for marriage proposals and wedding receptions, the team decided it was the logical next step to offer ceremonies too. “Pig & Whistle is a cosy home away from home,” Justin tells us. “It’s the perfect location to celebrate the union of loved ones with family and friends.” The experienced events planner will help couples create a bespoke day with up to 70 day guests plus 40 evening guests. The highlight for me has to be the fabulous fashion shows, which featured outfits from Abigail’s Collection (abigailscollection.co.uk ) and culminated in two of the models performing the lift from Dirty Dancing ! We were also super-happy to see the lovely Lucy Mecklenburgh.
