I had always wanted a church wedding and a stately home-style venue for the reception. At Parklands, Quendon Hall the house and grounds are stunningly beautiful with period features within the building. The long drive up to the house adjacent to the deer park makes it all the more magical. The friendly team made us feel relaxed and welcomed. We started the drinks reception in the gardens, moved to the Tabor Room for the wedding breakfast, and then through to the Pavilion for the evening reception – the surprises for your guests just keep coming! We went for a travel theme, naming our tables after destinations we’d visited together – of course the top table was Paris! For our evening reception in the Pavilion, the tables were decorated with large towering silk floral centrepieces and a large green tree, with Chiavari chairs and floral sashes. Our favours were small, travel- sized corked bottles containing toffee vodka (which we love) with a bespoke sticker. I had an oversized bouquet and the bridesmaids had smaller versions, while the flowergirls each had a basket of rose petals to scatter down the aisle. The flowers used were: miss piggy rose (coral colour), coral peony, ivory lisianthus, and sweet avalanche roses. 46
