Q&A Beauty Our local experts answer your questions IN A FLASH I’ve noticed in photos, especially those with flash photography, that my appearance always looks so pale! I’m worried about this happening in the wedding photos? What’s the reason for this, and how can my make-up artist correct this for my wedding day? The main cause for your make-up looking so pale in photos is the flashback. That white cast under your eyes is typically caused by specific SPF ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium oxide which may be found in your concealer or foundation. These ingredients are used to deflect the sunlight which is used to protect you from the sun’s rays. The intense light of flash photography is deflected off the skin and into the camera lens, creating a whitish glow. To prevent this from happening in your wedding photos, is for your make-up artist to use HD foundation, or foundations and concealers without SPF and a good setting powder – for this I recommend RMCA setting powder. We love the elegant styling of the 1920s and ‘30s ‒ perfect for a classic wedding! To complement an Art Deco beaded gown we recommend marcel waves. This style is adaptable for all hair lengths, for long hair we’d advise adding some fluffy curls to the marcel waves. To finish off this styling, you could add a beaded hairpiece to be positioned on one side of the head. For your make-up, a dark smoky eye and a dark lip in a cherry or plum red will really make the look come together. Anna Vine | Owner Le Keux Vintage Salon https://lekeux.com/essex 90
