Morgan and Jacob met at college and started out as friends. “We always liked each other, but graduating and taking jobs took us away from one another,” Morgan explains. “But one day, the universe brought us back together and we’ve been inseparable ever since.” Jacob proposed in July 2023. The couple hiked up to Lawn Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park and on reaching the top Jacob popped the question. They had a trip planned for the following month too, so Morgan suspected the proposal would come then, so to have it happen earlier made it a complete surprise for her. The U.S. based pair visited Bolton Castle back in 2022 as tourists before they were engaged and fell in love with the setting of the Yorkshire Dales. Jacob was born in Yorkshire and was so excited to show Morgan around. So, when she said “yes” they remembered how beautiful the Castle was and were excited for their friends and family to see it. They decided on a glorious UK wedding in Jacob’s home county and set the date for July 2024. Here, Morgan shares their story... SETTING THE SCENE The couple felt blessed that Bolton Castle really speaks for itself on the design front, so they didn’t feel they needed too much decor. They settled on a light, airy vibe and set about bringing their vision to life. Morgan had in mind long tables with pale floral hues and candles. Plus, the bar service provided beautiful glassware, which added to the light feel of the tables and complemented the bud vases beautifully. The simple, elegant bud vases contained pastel-hued florals and were placed along the tables as centrepieces interspersed with candles. “Our florist, Hattie, was absolutely amazing,” Morgan remembers. “She used seasonal florals local to the area and created simple, yet elegant pieces.” A family friend baked the wedding cake, but not being the biggest cake fans, Morgan and Jacob each forgot to try a slice. We’re sure it was delicious though! Baba Ganoush catered the wedding breakfast serving yummy food beautifully presented and piping hot, much enjoyed by all. “We booked a large coach to take everyone to and from the venue.” – Morgan LOOKING THE PART Morgan looked stunning in a strapless white gown, Celeste by Justin Alexander. “I’d describe it as elegant, timeless and classic,” she says. Her only accessory was her cathedral-length white veil. Jacob wore a black tuxedo with a white and red rose patterned lining. His groomsmen were all dressed in black suits to complement his look. The bridesmaids meanwhile wore luxurious French blue, velvet gowns. TIME TO CELEBRATE Bolton Castle provided a falconry show during happy hour. Guests got to see the magnificent birds fly high, and the couple have found that their loved one are still talking about it to this day! When it came to music, the talented Chris Stocks played a live set during the drinks reception and performed the couple’s first dance song, followed by another live set during their dance party. He then transformed into a DJ for the rest of the night and had everyone on the dancefloor until midnight. REAL WEDDINGS 23
