Your Yorkshire Wedding - January/February 2025 (Issue 70)

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW... Sophie Regan from Big Sister Events (https://bigsisterevents. co.uk) says: We’ve seen a huge rise in content creators at weddings in 2024, and I think this will continue for next year, alongside a strong focus on documentary style footage from videographers to complement beautifully edited wedding films. There’s a home-movie feel to candid footage that captures snippets of conversations and the unedited moments that made up your special day. In the same vein, 35mm film photography will continue to be a popular choice for 2025 weddings. It’s such a warm and nostalgic style of photography, you can immediately picture showing those photos to future generations. There’ll be plenty of new traditions coming to the fore too. More and more of my couples are feeling empowered to discard the traditional aspects of weddings that don’t feel meaningful to them, allowing them to spend more time, energy and budget on elements that they care about. From getting ready together in the morning to not having a bridal party, couples are celebrating however they want to and I’m here for it. Finally, bold styling will be in with strong colour palettes, sculptural floral installations and off-beat styling moments all set to be popular in 2025. Fruits in styling will continue to be big this year too and bows on everything are going nowhere. CHINOISERIE CHIC Stephanie Baragwanath from SB Events (www.sbeventsplanning.com) says: So what’s going to be hot in 2025? Chinoiserie. If you’ve seen Bridgerton, you’ll have no doubt seen a blue and white ginger jar or two filled with stunning floral arrangements. This romantic and elegant decorating style of the European interpretation of Asian influences dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries and is going to be big in the wedding world in 2025. Stationery and wedding signage designs will incorporate traditional Chinese symbols, ornate borders and delicate motifs that reflect the Chinoiserie aesthetic. Tablescapes will be adorned with touches of gold and blue coloured linens topped off with the showstopping ginger jar centrepieces and mis-matched blue and white china. These beautifully painted ceramic or porcelain vases filled with beautiful blooms will be showcasing the allure of the orient look. Not to mention, it will be the perfect accompaniment to your something blue! The Chinoiserie theme works so well we’ll see it pop up in every season. Couples can add additional contrasts of colours to complement the blue and white overall styling, including pinks, crisp whites, sage green, coral and reds. www.bohochicweddings.co.uk Harriet Bielby Photography HOT TOPIC As we begin a new year, our local experts tell us what’s tipped for the top in the world of weddings 2025 HOTLIST 50
