Q&A Beauty Look and feel your big-day best with help from the professionals UNDER CONTROL My hair tends to go frizzy in the winter. What can I do to tame it and have smooth shiny locks ready for my stylist on my wedding day? Samantha of Hair by Samantha Ashley (www.instagram.com/hairbysamanthaashley) says: If you have naturally frizzy hair, it’s hard going from season to season while keeping the frizz at bay. This is something I understand all too well having a natural wave plus some lovely post-partum regrowth myself. Thankfully, there are some products and methods that have been tried and tested by me and seem to do the trick. Hopefully they will for you too! I cannot stress enough the importance of a really good shampoo and conditioner, my go to is Olaplex. I was introduced to it by my lovely hairdresser when the products were launched in the salon and honestly haven’t looked back since. I use the shampoo and conditioner, followed by the bond smoother leave-in styling treatment when the hair is wet. Drying your hair smooth is key. There are so many different tools you can buy to help you get a salon-smooth blow dry at home, whether it be a big hair-rotating heated brush, a hair dryer using a smoothing nozzle and brush, or splashing out on a high-end branded tool such as an air wrap, which comes with many different attachments to achieve a variety of styles. Drying your hair properly and sectioning it as you go will make such a huge difference. Lastly, and this tip is the real secret weapon: Colour WOW Dream Coat Supernatural Spray. This is applied after the hair has been shampooed, conditioned and towel dried so the hair is damp. This spray creates an invisible waterproof cloak over the hair to help protect against humidity or any sort of damp in the air. You would then dry the hair smooth as normal and style... you can thank me later! WHAT’S HOT? What bridal hairstyle trends should we be looking out for in 2024? Kay at Kay Binnersley Hair (www.kaybinnersleyhair.co.uk) says: Every bride dreams of looking timeless and radiant on her wedding day, and in 2024, bridal hairstyle trends are all about embracing a sense of effortless elegance. Here are some of the standout styles that will be making waves down the aisle: •Undone updos. The undone look is gaining popularity among brides who want a hairstyle that feels both relaxed and refined. These updos feature soft, loose tendrils framing the face and a slightly messy bun or twist at the back. It’s the perfect balance between casual and chic. •Bridal waves. Classic waves never go out of style, but in 2024, they’re getting a modern twist. Expect to see brides opting for loose, beachy waves that exude a carefree vibe. Whether you wear your hair down or partially pinned up, these waves add a touch of romance to any bridal look. •Half up, half down. The timeless half up half down style is making a comeback with a contemporary twist. Brides are incorporating delicate accessories like pins, pearls, or flowers into this versatile hairstyle. It provides the best of both worlds, allowing hair to flow gracefully while keeping it secure and comfortable. •Braided updos. Braids continue to be a popular choice for brides in 2024. From intricate fishtail braids to elegant French braids, there are countless ways to incorporate these into your bridal updo. They add texture, dimension, and a touch of whimsy to your hairstyle. •Keep it personal. In 2024, bridal hairstyles are all about personalisation. Brides are encouraged to choose styles that reflect their unique personalities and preferences, ensuring they feel confident and beautiful on their big day. Whatever style you opt for, remember that the key to a stunning bridal hairstyle is to make it your own. ASK THE EXPERTS 69
