Your Yorkshire Wedding - September/October 2023 (Issue 62)

Oli and his best man wore sage green three-piece suits with a white shirt and dark green tie; while the rest of the groomsmen were free to choose their own style. We also bought matching ties and pocket squares for the groomsmen to complement the overall look. I didn’t know what my bridesmaids were wearing until the morning of the wedding! They live in Harrogate and Surrey, so it would have been difficult to arrange a day to go shopping, and I also wanted dresses they’d wear again. I gave them our colour palette and let them choose their own! Thinking it might rain, I bought umbrellas, blankets and even personalised Mrs Clark wellies! When I then realised how hot it would be, I had a mad dash buying handheld fans and flip-flops for those who wanted to carry on dancing – even if their shoes wouldn’t allow them to! My dress was from Wed2B, choosing the Jonah design; a draped bodice combined with off-the-shoulder straps and fitted skirt, finished with thousands of iridescent sequins and beads. To keep the children – and some adults! – amused we also had a bubble machine, which looked amazing as they caught the sunlight and drifted off around the venue. Sticking with our rustic theme, I made the name cards myself. I sourced wooden slices as the base, using stamps and ink for everyone’s name and their role in the wedding. 29 REAL WEDDINGS
