Visible from across the dale, the castle sits proudly looking across Wensleydale. As your guests arrive at our village, Castle Bolton, their first view is the stunning fortified castle complete with portcullis and the views beyond. The gardens wrap around three sides of the castle with the remaining castle walls set into manicured lawns. The gardens are renowned for their ‘rooms’ – including a physic garden with herbs and flowers used extensively in the medieval period, to the beautiful arches and rose gardens. The maze provides a lovely opportunity for photography and is edged with gravel paths and manicured lawns. Celebrate in style Priding itself on flexibility, Bolton Castle will work closely with couples to achieve that fairytale wedding of their dreams. You can hire the entire castle and gardens or choose to enjoy a ceremony in one room with two hours for photographs in the garden. The Castle can host both small intimate weddings as well as larger weddings. Wedding ceremonies and receptions can be held in The Solar Room and The Great Chamber, where Mary Queen of Scots was held in some luxury. It also welcomes weddings on the lawn with the castle as their backdrop, or a marquee works well for the ceremony and reception. The Great Chamber within the castle walls is perfect for a ceremony with a capacity for 120 guests for a wedding breakfast and 220 for an evening reception. A marquee on the lawn with magnificent views of the castle and Wensleydale caters for 250 guests for a reception. We love... Bolton Castle’s on-site falconry allows the venue to offer couples a barn owl to deliver the rings at the outset of the ceremony. Such a lovely addition to the day.
