Emily loved her walk to the church. She had taken that path countless times with friends, grandparents, parents and Ted. It felt so wonderful and uplifting to stroll in the beautiful sunshine on her way to marry her husband! The church ceremony was meaningful for the couple. Their friends could be quite lively and playful, and as Emily made her way down the aisle, she didn’t notice everyone around her since she was focused ahead. When their friends cheered, “We will love and support you and Ted!” during the ceremony, it created a truly unforgettable moment. Another highlight of the day came after they left the church. The couple opened a bottle of Moët and settled on a hill overlooking Cottesbrooke. They often enjoyed date nights picnicking with their dog, so returning to that spot and savouring the special feeling of their recent vows together was the best part of the day. The couple hired an awesome jazz band for the reception and brought in the brilliant White Room, a local band from Northamptonshire! They play some great indie hits and offer a local rate for weddings, which is such a bargain. Emily comments, “I highly recommend them, and a highlight was to be on the shoulders of our friends singing Teenage Dirtbag.” Many people helped make the day extra special! Emily says, “All our friends who did so much on the day for running around for us doing last minute jobs and the special bits. My uncle Peter and his partner Billy flew from Australia, our friend came from Singapore and another came from France! Everyone made such an effort. Our close friends, Lilly and Gabby, did the videography for us on an old school camera so that it gave the mum in mean girls feeling to the day. We now have a home video of the wedding that we’ll watch with our children. Lamport Hall was also amazing. The team were so helpful and made everything easy and stress-free. We also were gifted a print of the hall and a gnome – Lamport has the first gnome in the UK as a fun fact! “For me, my dad’s speech was truly special. He did an amazing job and used a quote from the sound of music, which made me feel very seen!” HONEYMOON The couple travelled to Lisbon, Portugal, for their honeymoon and then headed to a vineyard in the Douro Valley before finishing their trip in Porto. They enjoyed plenty of wine and port, and the food in Portugal was amazing! Ted and Emily had planned the whole thing and loved it. The bride says, “It was very relaxing and, if I’m honest, we just needed some time to decompress and be lazy. It was very fun to reminisce about the day and take a break! The highlight was the food and the hotel in Porto.” 38
