Emily and Ted were introduced by mutual friends. Ted’s best man is a local farmer with a younger sister named Sasha, who happens to be one of Emily’s good friends. Their first encounter took place at Sasha’s birthday celebration in Fulham. At that moment, Emily was in a relationship, so nothing significant occurred between them, but they certainly caught each other’s attention. Ted had a bit of a crush on Emily, and she recalls him being quite charming. A few months later, after ending her relationship, Emily took the initiative to message Ted directly. Just like that, their love story began! Ted popped the question on Christmas Eve at Emily’s most cherished spot – Cottesbrooke. This quaint village holds a special place in her heart as it’s where she grew up, and where her family home is situated. He selected a picturesque viewpoint that overlooked the village. Although the weather was a bit drizzly that day, he collaborated with Emily’s mom to help get her up a hill on that wet winter afternoon, and they succeeded! It was a truly magical time of year, especially as they celebrated with a surprise Christmas drinks party surrounded by friends and family, basking in the warmth of love and holiday cheer. SETTING THE SCENE The couple approached their wedding intending to savour the planning journey and make every moment joyful. They viewed the opportunity to plan a wedding as a special privilege—after all, not everyone has that experience. It’s truly a grand celebration! While it can sometimes be daunting, the love and joy they received from family and friends on their special day made it all worthwhile. Cottesbrooke is where Emily’s soul resides, and Ted adores the location! To them, it’s the most stunning spot on the planet, a delightful blend of The Vicar of Dibley and Downton Abbey. Emily’s grandmother was deeply engaged in the community and would take her and her brother to church nearly every Sunday during their childhood. They even pitched in to help clean the church throughout the week. While she was tidying up, they would dash around the pews and altar, causing a little mischief. Getting married in that church was incredibly meaningful for Emily, as it’s the same place where her great-grandmother tied the knot. Plus, with her dad serving as the treasurer, it was a family celebration. Before the ceremony, guests parked at Cottesbrooke Village Hall. Since there isn’t a pub in the village, the couple transformed the village hall into one named Franks Place, after their adorable bulldog, Frank. The usher Dave, who has a charming Cockney accent, played the role of a fantastic pub landlord for the morning! This was where Ted and his 11 ushers got ready and enjoyed breakfast. Meanwhile, the bride was preparing at her family home on the other side of the village, where her lovely sister-in-law and bridesmaid, India, lives with her brother. She turned the house into a stunning bridal suite! It was just a short stroll to the church, and it was delightful to see everyone from the village waving from their homes as they walked up the road. Lamport Hall is also a special location for the newlyweds. The bride’s brothers Tom and Ted have run the LCCCC (Lamport & Cottesbrooke C Cricket Club) at the hall since 2022 and her father is the financial trustee. It’s an amazing place that’s run by the trustees, the Director Mark Herrod and his team who make the hall feel like a home and retain its charm. So, it’s the perfect place for a wedding reception as it doesn’t feel corporate at all, which was certainly not the vibe Emily and Ted were going for. The bride is an artist and illustrator, so she naturally created the stationery for the day. She does this for other couples and enjoys 36
