Everyone had a unique wedding favour depending on which table they sat at. Our Yellow Brick Road table had gold bricks filled with chocolate coins, our Glinda’s Bubble table had mini bubble wands and our Cowardly Lion’s Den table had alcoholic shots for courage! Our wedding breakfast was in the Emerald City Room, so everything was green! The centrepieces were honeysuckle trees in wicker baskets on wooden log slices. As the venue was a theatre, we wanted to include as much entertainment as possible. We had Matt the Pianist playing pop songs as guests entered the venue, and an acapella group called The Buzztones sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow at the end of the ceremony and then performed their full set. Local actor, Paul Nolan, was the toastmaster and entertained guests throughout the day. The evening was filled with ‘A Masked Singer’ inspired gameshow where a few loved ones dressed up in mascot animal costumes and sang a song to the guests on the main stage, followed by local band, Function Fever, who wowed the crowd with their live instruments and excellent singing. The Technical Team at the theatre, Dan, Abbie and Adam, did an amazing job and created a green sky of lights to decorate the Emerald City Room. We had large props such as huge lollipops, a Dorothy farmhouse, a life-sized lion and giant flowers. The auditorium was decorated with a projection of a Munchkin Land, and we created a yellow brick road with golden rose petals down the aisle. I wore ballgown-styled dress with a low cut back. The bodice was covered with sequins and floral-patterned appliqués. I also wore ruby, red glittery slipper shoes just like Dorothy! We had everyone on round tables and a top table for key family members. One of my bridesmaids, Jess Glover, is a brilliant artist, so she drew our table name cards, and we incorporated this into the table plan. We created our own signage design for the table plan. So many guests said they have never been to a wedding like this, and they don’t ever think they will again! It was so unique and lots of fun. Many commented on how entertaining the live performances were and that they suited the venue so well. 31 REAL WEDDINGS
