DRESSED TO IMPRESS What trends will be popular for grooms in 2023? Grooms often wear a traditional morning suit, tail suit or a classic lounge suit, but this is starting to change with a shift towards black tie and the desire to express individual style. Personalisation, patterns, and colours are key trends for 2023. Grooms are starting to take more ownership for what they want to wear on their special day, from bold suit choices to personalised accessories which can be worn again after the big day. Once you’ve agreed on your colour scheme as a couple, start to research smaller businesses and talk to them about creating bespoke items. For example, we recently worked with a groom who chose a circuit board design in the colours of the bridal party for his special day to reflect his day job as a software engineer. Expressing personal style is key for grooms in 2023, and we see three broad groups emerging. ‘The Print Lover’ is exactly that, often choosing designs such as florals, abstracts and prints with personal meaning. ‘The Unconventional Groom’ is looking for something bespoke to them and is prepared to mix and clash pattern with style. Finally, we see ‘The Peacock a.k.a. The Dandy’, who will wear a cravat, pocket square, lapel flower teamed with a great suit and excellent shoes. Whatever you choose to wear, make sure you feel comfortable and stylish. Don’t go against your skin’s natural undertones. If you have a warm complexion, go with a shade that has yellow undertones, and if your complexion is on the cool side, a foundation with pink undertones is your best bet. Neutral undertones can sway either way, depending on the time of year and temperatures. Try to find a foundation focusing on your specific skin concerns, whether it’s an issue like acne, eczema or simply wanting your skin to look more luminous and glowy. Foundation isn’t a one-sizefits-all, so take your time to visit a department store and make sure you get samples to try in your own home. Most importantly, never buy blind online! Amy Lacey www.amylacey.co.uk TREND SETTER What hair and make-up styles will be popular in 2023? In 2023, hair will be less structured and more relaxed, with less focus on the hair itself and more on showing off the dress. The half-up and half-down look with waves will continue to be popular. Brides-to-be will start opting for a middle parting with smooth, straight hair teamed with a dramatic hair piece or crown. A low bun is still going to be on-trend as is a high ponytail with lots of volume and waves paired with natural make-up. When it comes to your make-up, my top tip is to drag your blush down to the apple of your cheek and sweep it across to your nose and repeat it on the other side. It will create a more youthful and sweeter feel to your make-up. Light and fluffy eyelashes are also a must-have. Yuki Fung www.blushandglow.co.uk www.indigoimages.co.uk 88
