Your Surrey Wedding - April/May 2022 (Issue 94)

When we drove up to Woldingham Golf Club, we were impressed by the views and open space. It was very picturesque. We loved that it had a country house feel, and the staircase which led up to the ceremony room was stunning. The wedding spaces were bright and spacious, with doors that led out to a large balcony overlooking the golf course and surrounding hills. I wanted the flowers to have a textured look, especially the bouquets. My florist, who was a friend, used memory lane roses, purple lisianthus and lilac freesias. For the flowergirls, I chose a gypsophila head garland and wicker hearts decorated with flowers for them to hold. Our favours were heart-shaped chocolates in white boxes. We gave the children personalised boxes with sweets, a colouring book and a game inside. We both love music and going to live gigs, so we decided to use our favourite bands as table names. Nick and I chose a three-tier buttercream design from Cakes by Bells. It consisted of chocolate, lemon and vanilla sponge. It was delicious, and our guests were asking for more in the days following the wedding. We wanted to keep the decorations quite simple, so we opted for a garland on the staircase, organza bows on the Chivari chairs and topiary trees at the top table, along with a beautiful top table display. We also honoured my dad, who had sadly passed, with a memory sign on the chair he would have sat on along with a candle burning for other family members who are no longer with us. 46
