Q&A Beauty Local experts answer your questions SKIN BREAKOUT Due to the stress and anxiety leading up to the wedding, I’ve had a breakout of eczema on around the chin area! I’m worried how my make-up will now look on the big day – help! Make-up artist Tracey Salmon (www.traceysalmonmua. com) says: First of all, don’t worry this is completely manageable! Eczema flare-ups before a wedding are common due to stress, and with the right skincare and make-up approach, your skin can look beautiful and feel comfortable all day. Here’s what you can do… Prepping your skin before the wedding day •Hydration is key – keep your skin well-moisturised with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser/balm or a ceramide-rich cream. •Avoid harsh ingredients – skip exfoliants, retinol, and anything that might further irritate your skin. •Calm the inflammation – use soothing ingredients like aloe vera, or even a mild steroid cream (if prescribed). •Reduce stress – try relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or a warm bath to help ease anxiety. Make-up application on the day We can use a gentle primer with lots of hydrating properties to prep the skin, and then follow with a lightweight foundation, giving you a beautiful dewy, hydrated look. If there are any patches that are still looking angry/red we can use a creamy concealer for coverage. We will avoid powder-based products to stop any dryness showing and to keep your skin looking glowy and fresh; we will finish with a gorgeous hydrating setting spray to melt everything together for a beautiful finish! TIME FOR A TREATMENT I’ve never had any kind of treatments before but wanted to consider my options for some pre-wedding prep! What would you recommend for a complete newbie, that would be minimally invasive but rewarding for the big day? Holly Mason, founder of The Skin Investment Clinic (www.theskininvestmentclinic.com) says: “That’s a great question! At The Skin Investment Clinic, we love helping bridesto-be achieve glowing, confident skin for their big day. Since this is your first time exploring treatments, we’d recommend a gentle yet effective approach to enhance your natural beauty without drastic changes. Here’s a simple, minimally invasive wedding prep plan: Six+ months before: •Skin Consultation & Bespoke Plan – We assess your skin type and concerns to create a personalised treatment plan. •Medical-Grade Facials – Regular hydrating and brightening facials help improve skin texture and radiance over time. •Microneedling or Profhilo (if suitable) – Boosts collagen for firmer, plumper skin with a natural glow. Three months before: •Chemical Peel or HydraFacial – Gently resurfaces and brightens skin for a fresh, even complexion. •Light Botox (optional) – If you want a subtle smoothing effect, a mild botox treatment can soften fine lines while keeping natural expressions. One month before: •Skin Booster Treatment – Treatments like Profhilo or Polynucleotides provide deep hydration and a dewy finish. •Last Facial – A final glow-boosting facial to ensure your skin is at its best. One week before: •LED Light Therapy or Oxygen Facial – Soothes, hydrates, and preps skin for a stressfree, radiant look. 72
