Monochrome magic Ryan and Kay’s nuptials were a black and white extravaganza Images courtesy of Stacey Lou Photography Ryan and Kay met in 2019 on a random Friday evening at their local social club where Ryan was playing darts for his team. “I’d arranged to meet a friend there for a catch up, and after a few vodkas, I’d mentioned to my friend that I liked the look of Ryan,” recalls Kay. “Whilst I nipped to the ladies, unbeknown to me, my friend told Ryan exactly what I’d said. Whilst exiting the ladies, Ryan was stood there confidently and said, ‘Your mate told me what you said about me’. I wanted to die inside, I knew then that I had to play it cool, ‘Did she?’ I answered, and with that Ryan said ‘Yeah, I’ll see you later then’, and with that he left the club. I went back in and spoke to my friend and before Ryan had even got to the exit, I’d sent him a friend request on Facebook. We met up again that night and have never gone a day without speaking since. Neither of us were looking for a relationship, I’d not long left an unhappy marriage, and Ryan was in his prime on Tinder!” After romance blossomed, in August 2023, Antalya Old Town, Turkey set the scene for Ryan’s proposal, “Ryan, my daughter and I went for a clifftop dinner at sunset, overlooking the sea,” shares Kay. “Ryan had made reservations at a restaurant in Antalya Old Town; it was stunning, being by the sea is my happy place and really grounds me, and we are both obsessed with pretty sunsets. “We had always known that one day we would get married, but it wasn’t a plan for anytime soon. Apparently, when we got to our hotel on the first day, and Ryan saw how relaxed I was, he devised a plan with my daughter. There was a jeweller inside our hotel and they went and chose a temporary engagement ring. They both kept the proposal a secret from the family for a week, I couldn’t believe my daughter never told her cousins – she’s definitely good at keeping secrets!” After the proposal and enjoying their meal, the three of them headed back to the hotel where the rest of the family were waiting with champagne! Kay adds, “It was just the best; sunset, sea, the three of us, followed by sharing the special evening with family too (there were 17 of us!)!” The big date was set, 1st November 2024, with Morden Hall setting the scene.
