MADE BY ADELE Ge t now Adel … When did you start baking? About aged six! I’ve been baking and cooking from a young age with my parents but started my professional career in the food industry nearly 20 years ago. Pastry has always been my forte and following a career in food development I decided to start my own business in 2020. When did you know wedding cakes were your passion? As the world opened up post-lockdown, and weddings were back on the table, it provided so many more channels for creativity for both flavours and designs. People were coming to me for my memorable and unique cake flavours and natural style, and this seamlessly evolved from occasion cakes into wedding cakes. How can you best describe your designs/services? My wedding cakes are created to be memorable, delicious, and to make beautiful centrepieces. I offer a bespoke service tailored to each couple’s requirements. My Great Taste Award-winning cakes are created for those who want food to be an important part of their day – cake is for eating, after all, but why not make it beautiful too?! Having won six Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards (2023 & 2024) – known as the ‘Oscars of the food world’ – you can be safe in the knowledge that you’re in the best hands to create the most important cake of your life. My style is natural, elegant and I love to work with organic colour and texture that blend seamlessly with your wedding styling. I offer a carefully curated menu featuring delicious flavour pairings using high quality ingredients. Each flavour combination is developed to be balanced and executed to perfection to provide a memorable eating experience. Flavour is a labour of love, right to the last mouthful. Top tip for couples choosing their wedding cake: Choose flavours that people will remember and may have never tasted before. No one will remember your wedding cake if you had a Victoria sponge! What’s your go-to dessert? Tiramisu. I love the balance between the creamy mascarpone enriched with egg yolks and the bitter coffee and cocoa hit. Do you watch The Great British Bake Off? I used to but I missed the last season and replaced it with Masterchef Professionals! I started baking and making birthday cakes when I was 18 years old and used to have a side hustle making them for a bit of money. When did you know wedding cakes were your passion? I fell into wedding cakes. I always loved creating cakes and loved the art-form and started making birthday cakes, then people asked me to make quirky wedding cakes, and the rest is history. The pride I feel every time someone choices me to be their wedding cake supplier for such a special day never gets old. How can you best describe your designs/services? We’re friendly, easy to work with and hassle free, with a varied skill level; we make all our flowers and foliage in house. We’ve created a very comprehensive website and are unique in that we disclose our prices, so people know where to start from on the off, we have an easy online order form and taster box order form; so you can invite the family around and put the kettle on and make this a nice thing to do as a family. Our online contact form means everything can literally be done on-line which is most convenient to people these days with busy lifestyles. We also, if necessary, do zoom calls late in the evenings so it fits around our workload and our clients’ busy lives. Top tip for couples choosing their wedding cake: Do your research, start a pin board with all your inspiration of various designs you like, colour palettes etc, go to fairs so you can see people’s work, order a taster box so you can get a feel for the actual bake – nothing worse than your cake looks pretty but tastes awful. Check out reviews, we have over an hundred genuine reviews on our listings, this helps give you peace of mind that we are capable of producing what you have asked for; and, lastly, if you love a cake maker, book them in with a save the date so you aren’t disappointment as there are only so many cakes we can do in a month due to the fact we want to give your cake the attention it deserves. What’s your go-to dessert? Lemon Meringue pie, I love making it and always a firm favourite in our household. Do you watch The Great British Bake Off? No I don’t watch Bake Off. To be fair I don’t watch a lot of telly as I’m always making and creating. I do sit in the evening with my husband and watch movies and a bit of Netflix, but if I’m honest I’m not telly person I get bored!
