Your Surrey Wedding - February/March 2025 (Issue 111)

Vicky and Jamie met at work in East London, and an office romance soon blossomed into something more after lunchbreaks together and after-work drinks. “Things escalated one evening after work which ended up with us singing Backstreet Boys and trying to ballroom dance in the karaoke room!” recalls Vicky. Knowing Vicky was the one, Jamie proposed in Paris the capital of love, “It was just before we climbed up the Eiffel Tower,” shares Vicky. “It was a complete shock, so much so that Jamie had to prompt me for an answer because I was just staring open mouthed!” The big date was set, 18th July 2024, with Millbridge Court, Farnham setting the scene. Here we find out more about their day… SETTING THE SCENE Millbridge Court offered the perfect mix of a modern venue with rustic touches for Vicky and Jamie. “We loved the cosiness of the venue and the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows,” shares Vicky. “The outside ceremony area was beautiful too, but we opted for indoors as it was such a stunning room.” One of the main attractions to the venue was that both the bride and groom had lovely places to get ready in and have photos. “There was also a window that looked down onto the ceremony room so the I could see guests as they come in!” adds Vicky. For the finer details of the day, the couple had shortbreadbiscuit favours with ‘Mr & Mrs Galpin, est 18.07.24’ embossed on, made by Vicky’s aunties, and their table plan was in keeping with the black and white theme with big blooms of pampas grass in vases below. The centrepieces were floral bouquets in vases created by the florist matching the bridal party’s bouquets a mixture of bright and pale pink and white flowers with a few thistles thrown in as a nod to Vicky’s Scottish roots! A balloon company created a hanging installation in the wedding breakfast room, and the couple also opted for light-up letters, J&V, and huge cocktail glass vases that were placed at the end of the aisle and then moved behind the pair’s sweetheart table decorated with faux flowers. “We hired a polaroid camera so guests could leave pictures alongside their messages in the guest book,” adds Vicky. “We had a basket of flip flops for guests to help themselves to, and personalised some sunglasses with our wedding date and married name. We gave guests personalised Love Hearts sweets with our married name on and had packets of ‘happy tears’ tissues for guests during the ceremony in case they got teary. We had a candle in a lantern for a memorial of those we’ve lost along the way who couldn’t be with us. We displayed our vows in frames at the venue.” For the food, the big-day bake was made by Vicky’s aunty, while guests also enjoyed canapés, including mini ice cream cones, a three-course wedding breakfast of scallops, chicken and 39 REAL WEDDINGS
