Your Surrey Wedding - December/January 2024/2025 (Issue 110)

FLOWERS 59 Get to know Emma Love-Lecky, of Surrey-based Love Story Dried Flowers, who shares her inspirations and passion for dried flowers. “I’m an absolute lover of colour, especially in the colder months when we are surrounded by grey skies,” shares Emma. “Over autumn and winter, my inspiration is taken from the changing colours of the leaves and evergreens. Combining shades of orange, green and pink is a very popular and striking combination that translates beautifully with dried flowers at this time of year.” Emma continues... WHY CHOOSE FAUX FLOWERS? By using a mixture of dried and preserved florals we are very lucky when it comes to the availability and colours to choose from, which is one of the reasons they are so fun to work with. Any colour scheme can be achieved all year round so there really are no limitations when it comes to selecting colour schemes. Because dried flowers last for years to come, centrepieces can also be gifted by the couple to family and friends making a dried flower option for your wedding very sustainable with zero waste – I mean who wants to spend all that money just to see it all go into the bin? I truly believe that dried and preserved florals is the future and it is growing in popularity by the day. DRIED FLOWER DESIGNS… When it comes to what designs work well this entirely depends on the setting of the wedding. For me, a decadent full arch and aisle flowers really create a magical fairytale scene. I love to create items for the ceremony that can then be repurposed into the reception area and then onto the party space, for example aisle décor can be used as centrepieces and arch décor can be used behind the top table. COLOUR SCHEMES... My favourite combination for autumn/winter weddings is orange, pink and green; while for spring/summer nuptials blush pink, sage and white are a dream. MY TOP TIP: Do not conform! This is your day, and it should reflect you and your partner so choose a colour scheme that makes you smile. Don’t give in to the pressure to do things a way that just isn’t you. What makes you happy should make others happy for you.
