Your Surrey Wedding - June/July 2024 (Issue 107)

We had a seven-piece band called Party Up who were amazing. We both have families and friends that love a dance and we had people dancing all night long playing oldschool disco classics. The dancefloor was always so busy, we loved it! My brother was our master of ceremonies, and we just wanted him to keep the day light-hearted and funny. He did such a good job and had the whole room laughing during the wedding breakfast. Our bridal party was amazing and so special to have them by our sides and of course we couldn’t have done it without our parents! Neither of us are particularly lovey dovey, so it surprised us both that the ceremony turned out to be one of our favourite bits. Once we were married, we just had the best day. I loved every minute of it! Another very emotional part was during Luke’s speech; my uncle had been told he was in remission from cancer that week. Luke didn’t tell anyone he was going to do it but before starting his speech he asked everyone to stand to celebrate my uncle’s news, all my aunts, uncles and cousins were in tears, it was such a nice moment that people always mention. Hilariously, we have a British bulldog called Dave. Luke’s best man is also called Dave. In my vows I said ‘ I promise to love and cherish you as much as I do Dave’, the registrar had no idea we had a dog called Dave so when she called the best man up she said, “now I’ve heard a lot about Dave in the vows” with a very confused look on her face and the whole room erupted in laughter as she thought I was talking about the best man. 46
