Your Surrey Wedding - June/July 2024 (Issue 107)

THE WHISPERING ANGEL TERRACE OPENS AT THE MITRE FOLLOWING A REFURBISHMENT Nestled along the River Thames with Hampton Court as its regal backdrop, The Mitre is a historic property that epitomises quintessential English charm. This idyllic Surrey escape promises guests a getaway steeped in romance, history, and indulgence, where exceptional cuisine, laid-back luxury, and an unparalleled guest experience reign supreme. As the summer approaches, The Mitre Hampton Court invites guests to enjoy the Whispering Angel Terrace which reopened this weekend where the world-renowned Whispering Angel rosé takes centre stage once again. This al fresco oasis will be lavishly adorned with breathtaking floral installations, drawing inspiration from the luxurious chateaus of France. Guests are invited to relax and reconnect while dining under stylish parasols at white-clothed tables. Executive head chef Mark Jarvis, whose illustrious career began under the tutelage of Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, continues to curate seasonal, sustainable, and creative menus that tantalise the palate. Adjoining the Whispering Angel Terrace is the Lion Terrace, serving up refreshing Lion Brewery pale ales and draft beers. These two spaces, seamlessly connected by a pontoon, beckon both Surrey and London’s residents to sip, savour, and bask in the radiant sunshine while taking in the captivating views of the river. Visitors can even captain a boat, with six beautiful vessels, each named after one of Henry VIII’s wives, ready for guests to skipper, directly from the Lion Terrace. Head off with a Mitre picnic or a bottle or two of champagne. There’s no better way to enjoy life on London’s famous river! Opened in September 2020, The Mitre is a Grade II listed boutique hotel with 36 bedrooms set on the banks of the River Thames by Hampton Court Palace. Rebuilt in the mid-18th century, The Mitre dates back to 1665 and was originally used as ancillary accommodation for guests of King Charles II. Taking inspiration from the building’s historical links, Nicola Harding has individually designed each of the 36 rooms, creating spaces that are authentically connected with both the heritage and the current neighbourhood of Hampton Court. Think country house meets the joy and colour of Britain’s boating tradition, or, Wind-in-the-Willows does Henley Regatta. With a riverside restaurant, brasserie and bar, Orangery seating 80 people, a Whispering Angel boat house and a private jetty with a hotel boat, there’s much to keep guests entertained. Dream weddings take place here in a choice of stylish function suites. Contact: www.mitrehamptoncourt.com What’s new? 27 THEMED VENUES
