Your Surrey Wedding - June/July 2024 (Issue 107)

What’s new? TRAVELODGE LAUNCHES NEW WEDDING SPEECH MENU Travelodge, with hotels in Surrey including in Leatherhead, has just launched a Wedding Speech Menu online offering providing a helping hand for all those asked to say a few words on the big day. To help keep nerves and sweaty palms at bay, the hotel chain has partnered with comedian Rob Madin - who appears regularly as his alter ego Brett Domino on 8 Out of 10 Cats does Countdown - to write a selection of wedding speeches which can be downloaded from Travelodge’s website, giving wedding party members some light relief when it comes to composing the ultimate wedding speech. Travelodge’s Speech Menu offering will help save the day. With its selection of adaptable, pre-written words to suit all occasions, it will help the bridal party hit the right tone and (hopefully) avoid offending the guests or the happy couple! The three adaptable speeches can be used as the foundation to write personalised words or serve as a form of inspiration if somebody is struggling with where to begin and more importantly where to end! Travelodge provides a brilliant base for guests attending weddings. Whether guests are travelling up the day before or need to rest following the event, they will find comfortable, great-value stays at over 600 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain. Travelodge Master of Ceremonies commented, “It’s that time of year again, where couples get ready to say their ‘I do’s’. Whilst wedding season should be a time of love and cheer, if you’re giving a speech on the big day, it can also be incredibly nerve-wracking. So, as well as offering our guests king-sized comfort and great value accommodation, we’re going one step further this season by helping those tasked with ‘saying a few words’ by launching our Wedding Speech Menu offering - another reason you Better Get a Travelodge.” To find out more, visit www.travelodge.co.uk/blog/news/ wedding-speech-menu and to book a stay in the Leatherheadbased property, visit www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/256/ Leatherhead-hotel THE MANSION, LEATHERHEAD REGISTER OFFICE Leatherhead’s hidden gem, this is one of Surrey’s most popular ceremony venues. The first house was built during the reign of Henry VIII and is thought to have been rebuilt in 1710 by Alexander Akehurst. As well as being a private home, it has been used as a school, a billet for Canadian troops during World War II and by Surrey County Council to house the library and other council services. It became a Leatherhead Register Office in 2000. The large grounds have a terrace and steps leading to lawns and walkways, providing a stunning photographic backdrop. The Ceremony Room that’s furnished in blue, cream and gold, with mahogany woodwork can now allow up to 58 guests plus the couple making it the largest register office ceremony option in Surrey. The conservatory adjoins the State Room. It has a wrought iron kissing seat and provides an opportunity for wet weather photographs. www.surreycc.gov.uk/birth-death-and-ceremonies/ceremonies/ your-wedding/step-2/register-offices/leatherhead www.facebook.com/surreyccofficial www.instagram.com/surreycountycouncil www.la-creative-photography.com www.la-creative-photography.com 25 LOCAL VENUES
