NOCI PASTA NOW OPEN ON RICHMOND HILL Looking for a fun yet informal place to celebrate a low-key hen celebration? Modern pasta restaurant, Noci, recently opened its doors on Richmond Hill in Surrey. Serving fresh, seasonal pasta dishes, Sicilian-street food-inspired snacks, and cocktails, Noci’s laid-back design, quality pasta and affordability make it a great spot for diners. Dishes are made using ingredients from producers and artisans across Europe and the chefs have taken inspiration from their heritage and travels throughout Italy to design a menu of classics, with a focus on seasonality that comes through in the fresh pasta and small plates. Signature dishes include the silk handkerchiefs, a Noci staple that gets a seasonal twist, and the veal and pork Genovese ragu with Monks’ head cheese, which is served tableside. A new addition to the award-winning spa is a new Himalayan Salt Room, which promotes healthier skin and aids good sleep and overall wellness. This iconic fragrance diffuses a unique and precious scent into the Meditation Room to create a pleasant, relaxing environment. Intense floral notes and the enveloping notes of sweet orange and cedarwood promote an immediate feeling of well-being and relaxation whilst guests sink into a warming waterbed. It’s priced from £34.95 per person for 30 minutes or £60 per couple and includes a pot of twist tea or glass of chilled prosecco. Another addition to BSpa at Brooklands Hotel is the two types of communal sauna; an infra-red and Finnish sauna that offer de-tox benefits and boost metabolism. The temperature is very high, most commonly between 80 and 90ºC and the humidity inside the sauna will vary between 10 and 30%. Water is thrown onto the rocks, which produces a steam called löyly which raises the humidity. Bathers stay in the high heat for five to 30 minutes, then cool off outside the sauna, returning to start the process again and feeling the benefits of these hot and cold cycles. Adjacent to a new, larger communal steam room is an experience shower and an ice fountain. Gently rubbing ice flakes over the body from the ice fountain is the ideal way to cool down and feel invigorated before moving on in the BSpa journey. Now installed are differing water effects such as tropical rain, mist, monsoon and cold waterfall from the experience shower, combined with lighting options to deliver a multi-sensory encounter and maximise health benefits. Existing facilities of BSpa have uniquely been the large hydrotherapy hot tub, fabulously positioned on the hotel balcony, overlooking the Mercedes-Benz World track. BURNINGFOLD MANOR, DUNSFOLD This beautiful 15th-century listed manor house is a historic property that was originally a hunting lodge for Henry VIII. Having been extensively extended over the years, period features are abundant throughout including exposed oak beams, oak doors, open fireplaces, wood panelling, leadlight windows as well as the original minstrel’s gallery. Something blue Shannon and Hollie’s special day was decorated with baby blue and lilac touches Images courtesy of Schmittat Photography Shannon and Hollie met playing football and were initially friends for a while before realising there was something more between them. “We loved each other’s sense of humour and ability to have fun,” they tell us. Hollie proposed during a break in the New Forest, by a small luxury lodge located on the river. “It was all a surprise,” Hollie says. “Shannon thought she was going away with family and not long after arriving, I asked her to marry me. It was a wonderful moment as two swans peacefully swam past.” Shannon and Hollie McArdle-Watson married on the 29th of July 2023 at Wotton House in Dorking. 31 REAL WEDDINGS
The Evelyn Suite looked stunning all set up for our wedding breakfast. Our stylish centrepieces were white hydrangeas displayed in tall vases with floating candles and blue and lilac gems scattered around them. As favours, we donated to charity and gave our guests horseshoe charity pins, a personalised drink name and a personal hand-written letter each. We both felt relaxed and the happiest we had ever felt on our wedding day. The gardens and surroundings at Wotton House which we booked as our venue were unbelievably pretty. Our twin nephews rode down the aisle in a child’s car, surprising all of our guests. We had a live singer called Beth who performed throughout the ceremony and drinks reception. She sounded fantastic and our guests were raving about her voice. We decided to get married outside in the Italian Gardens but we wanted an incredible indoor option in case the weather turned which the venue offered. 32
We had a contemporary acrylic table plan and name holders which looked great. Our table names were after board games and included Jenga, Monopoly, Cluedo, Connect Four, Dominoes and Scrabble. Our flower varieties in the arrangements and bouquets included blue and lilac hydrangeas and pretty Dorchester roses. “Our guests were thanked during the wedding speeches.” - Shannon and Hollie Our guests loved looking at our photo wall! Our sweetie table went down a treat! Our delicious blue marble cake consisted of three layers. One was chocolate-flavoured, one was a Victoria sponge tier and the third was a lemon-flavoured layer with some additional dairy-free cupcakes. I wore an ivory wedding dress by Stella York which Hollie chose because she liked the length of the train, the buttons down the back and the flattering fit around the waist. It was styled with an elegant cathedral-length veil, a silver necklace, a bracelet and a pair of earrings. - Shannon We displayed photographs of our loved ones on a memory table.
