Mikey’s suit was navy with a subtle check and gold detailing. The groomsmen wore the same as Mikey but with a different tie and pocket square. I went to The Dress in Teddington and the ladies there were wonderful. I didn’t find the dress the first time, but after finding a Stephine Allin gown on Pinterest, the team went out of their way to get the dress in for me and that was it, I was in love. The dress was called Jet from the Eden collection. Jessica Eliza made our beautiful wedding flowers using cosmos, a very delicate flower that she knew how to place perfectly, with roses, delphiniums (which turns out are Mikey’s grandmother’s favourite flowers) and others. Mikey’s mum made everyone a shot of sloe gin for the day. Mikey comes from a Finnish background and his relatives couldn’t make the day, so the toast was raised to them. It was a foggy day when we looked around The Barn at Botley Hill and we fell in love. We thought if we loved it on a day like that, imagine how we would feel in the sunshine. On our next visit, it was raining and cloudy, so we were still yet to see the view! We woke up to glorious sunshine on our wedding day and the venue took our breath away – as it did for all the guests. It also helped that the staff who run the venue are incredibly kind and welcoming and made us feel at home. The floral displays were positioned down the aisle and at the altar, then moved to the end of the tables at the wedding breakfast and then moved again in front of the band. Each table had a range of bud vases that had been collected from each of our mothers over the years and from Jessica. Simply stunning! 36
