Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2020 (Issue 87)
LEWES CASTLE 01273 474 610 | www.sussexpast.co.uk/venue-hire Standing proud in the heart of the South Downs, Lewes Castle is a beautiful 1,000-year-old romantic ruin with spectacular panoramic views of the Sussex countryside and the historic town of Lewes below. Ceremonies take place under the ancient West Tower archway flanked by beautiful rose bushes. The traditional walk down the aisle is replaced by the winding steps to The Keep, with 80 loved ones waiting in the Pleasure Garden at the bottom, in the shade of the old lime tree. After the “I dos” descend into the Gun Garden for drinks and canapés served by the in-house staff from the Pavilion building. This spot is also perfect for your bespoke wedding breakfast and reception, where you can be joined by up to 100 of your nearest and dearest as you celebrate, feast and dance the night away. Also worthy of note is the free family membership to the Sussex Archaeological Society, which will be gifted to you, allowing you to return to this historic site for a year after the big day, as well as to its five other sites. WORTHING DOME 01903 210 044 | www.worthingdomeevents.co.uk Built in 1911 Worthing Dome is a Grade II listed building situated on the Sussex coast. It’s a rich example of Edwardian architecture, typical of coastal town entertainment complexes of the period and one of the last of its kind still standing. The building is still a working cinema with a plush interior and many original features and there’s a large south-facing balcony that runs the width of the building overlooking Worthing’s award-winning beach. The promenade is a stone’s throw away and the pier is a favourite spot with couples for their photos. The Main Lounge is a classic room featuring ornate mouldings and iconic south-facing arched windows. It can play host to 150 for your “I dos,” 140 for a sit-down wedding breakfast, and 190 for the evening revelries. The Whispering Gallery is a dramatic mezzanine room with beautiful overhead steel framework and stunning views overlooking the sea, with space for 85 ceremony guests, 40 dining and 85 again in the evening. www.fitzgeraldphotographic.co.uk 22
