Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2024 (Issue 111)

I wore Jaye by Madi Lane, an off-the-shoulder fitted design. My veil was attached to my dress at the back, which I loved. Madi Lane is my favourite designer, so I was over the moon when I found the one and it was one of hers! Mike’s mum and her choir sang during our ceremony. They performed May It Be by Enya as a nod to our Irish heritage, Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, and God Only Knows by The Beach Boys. They were fantastic. My incredibly talented mum made our wooden frame for the end of the aisle, and provided a backdrop for the ceremony. I then made a twometre long fabric backdrop in our wedding palette using various fabrics and yarn. It took a long time but it was worth every minute. Mike and his groomsmen all wore sage green. Their attire completely suited our farm/festival style, and they all looked great. We found some floral ties and pocket squares that really complemented my bouquet and our palette. I wanted each of my bridesmaids to have a dress that suited them that they’d be comfortable in, so we chose three different designs in various shades of pink. They were all satin and the ladies looked gorgeous. We tried to create a festival-style wedding, so we chose reusable festival cups as our favours. I designed them to reflect our palette. They were such a personal touch. For our table plan, I peeled the labels off 13 wine bottles and designed new labels to stick onto them. We certainly didn’t mind drinking the wine it took to create it! My florist is the mum of one of my bridesmaids and she absolutely understood my vision. She created the most beautiful bouquets for us with vibrant pink, orange and yellow flowers. I wanted a lot of movement and it was perfect. I’ve sent my bouquet off to be preserved in resin, it was too gorgeous to not have it last forever. REAL WEDDINGS 35
