Your Sussex Wedding - August/September 2024 (Issue 110)

The ceremony itself really stood out as being warm and personal. It was made all the better by the registrar and her style of delivery. She made us both feel at ease – a lovely lady. It was pure relief when I saw Nicola walk through the double doors to walk down the aisle. I had a lump in my throat when I saw her in her dress, which had been a complete surprise. We traditionally spent the night before apart. I stayed at home while Nicola spent the night at the venue. We both felt very nervous and excited at the same time! As Nicola’s parents are sadly no longer with us, I asked her brother Keith for her hand in marriage a few years earlier and had also asked if he’d walk her down the aisle. She was thrilled. Although I’d been married before, Nicola hadn’t and had her heart set on a grand affair. We looked at a few local venues, and opted for Doubletree Hilton Brighton Metropole as we envisioned having our couple photos along the sea front. 40
